CONCERT – European Joint Programme for the Integration of Radiation Protection Research

CONCERT was a European Joint Programme (EJP) that aimed to contribute to the sustainable integration of European and national research programmes in the field of radiation protection (2015-2020). The consortium comprised 36 institutions from 23 European Member States plus Norway and Switzerland and 6 European research platforms (MELODI, ALLIANCE, NERIS, EURADOS, EURAMED and SHARE, working in the fields of radiation effects in humans, radioecology, nuclear emergency preparedness, dosimetry, medical radiation protection and integration of social sciences and humanities in ionising radiation, respectively).

CONCERT developed its strategic plans based on the work of these European research platforms and supports the establishment of a European research platform in the field of medical radiation protection. CONCERT served as an umbrella structure for joint programming and the integration of the research agendas from the European research platforms and national research programmes. The European Commission’s EURATOM Research and Training 2014-2020 Programme supported CONCERT through a contribution up to 70% of the total eligible costs.

One of the aims of CONCERT was to fund multidisciplinary innovative research projects in radiation protection. The projects funded within the Joint Transnational Calls (JTC 2016 and 2017) are presented in the following links:

FCT developed its activities in CONCERT by contributing to WP4 (organisation and management of the two CONCERT open calls to support multidisciplinary and transnational innovative research projects in radioprotection), as described in the April 2018 AIR² bulletin.
