On 20 November 2018 JPND announced a new ERA-NET Cofund project, JPcofuND2, established under the European framework programme for investigation and innovation H2020, which continues the work of the JPcofuND project (2014-2019) and other activities pursued by the European joint programming initiative on neurodegenerative diseases research (for more information please check JPND's page in FCT's website).
JPcofuND2 is implemented between 2019 and 2023, and its major activities are:

FCT's funding commitment for JPcofuND2's CTC 2022: €150,000.00 (one hundred and fifty thousand Euros).
Note: if more than one Portuguese institution participates in a given consortium, the budget has to be shared. Portuguese institutions must follow FCT's Legislation, Regulations and Norms. The dedication (FTE) in transnational projects is not taken into account for the 100% (FTE) dedication to national projects.
The regulation applicable to projects to be funded by FCT is the Regulation on Projects Funded Solely by National Funds.

JPcofuND2 Joint Transnational Call 2021 supported a number of ambitious, innovative, multi-disciplinary and multi-national collaborative research projects that aimed at identifying and measuring physiological effects and related biomarkers that could be linked to the development of neurodegenerative diseases, as well as enhancing the understanding of causal underlying cellular, molecular, metabolic, inflammatory or other systemic processes.

Twenty-three national and regional agencies from JPND countries participated in the competition.
