Joint Call 2016

The first call of M-ERA.NET2 was M-ERA.NET CALL 2016, co-funded by EU, on materials science and engineering, including materials for low carbon energy technologies and related production technologies was open on 15 March 2016.

The following thematic areas are supported:

• Integrated Computational Materials Engineering .
• Innovative Surfaces, Coatings and Interfaces.
• High performance synthetic and biobased composites.
• Functional Materials
• Interfaces between materials and biological hosts for health applications
• Materials for Additive Manufacturing

• Deadline for the electronic submission of pre-proposals: 14 June 2016, 12:00 noon Brussels time.
• Deadline for the electronic submission of full proposals: 10 November 2016, 12:00 noon Brussels time.
• 35 funding organisations from 26 countries participate with a preliminary total budget of around 40 million €, including an EU contribution: Austria, Belgium-Flanders, Belgium- French Speaking Community, Belgium- Wallonia, Brazil – São Paulo State, Cyprus, France-Region ALPC, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Italy-Region Calabria, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Spain-Asturias, Spain-Basque Country, Spain- Castilla y Léon, Taiwan, Turkey.
• Applicants from countries/regions not participating in the call cannot be part of a Consortium.

• Each Portuguese institution need to submit a Declaração de Compromisso, duly signed and stamped by the head of the Principal Contractor and by the Principal Investigator, to the contact person at FCT, by e-mail, until the submission deadline of pre-proposals.
• The portuguese institutions must follow the Regulations governing access to funding for scientific research and technological development projects. The dedication (FTE) in transnational projects is not taken into account for the 100% (FTE) dedication to national projects.

Consortia involving both academic and industrial organizations are particularly encouraged to apply even though pure academic or pure industrial consortia are also eligible.

The financial commitment of FCT to support all topics in this call is 750 000 Euros.

The funding for the Portuguese participation in one transnational proposal is limited to:

• 24-36 months project duration: 250 000 Euros for a proposal with Portuguese coordination;
• 24-36 months project duration:150 000 Euros for a proposal with Portuguese participation;

Joint Call 2015

The fourth M-ERA.NET Call 2015 on Materials Science and Engineering including Nanotechnologies and Processes and Production Technologies was open on 3rd February 2015.

The following thematic areas are supported:

• Integrated Computational Materials Engineering
• New surfaces and coatings
• High performance synthetic and biobased composites
• Materials for Sustainable and Affordable Low Carbon Energy Technologies
• Tailoring of bioactive material surfaces for health applications
• Materials for additive manufacturing

• Deadline for the electronic submission of pre-proposals: 9 June 2015 (12.00 Brussels time).
• Deadline for the electronic submission of full proposals: 10 November 2015 (12.00 Brussels time).
• 35 national/regional funding organizations participating in the call from 26 countries including Brazil (Sao Paulo State), Republic of Korea, Russia and Taiwan.
• Eligible transnational consortia will have to include at least three organisations, eligible for funding, from, at least, two countries participating in the call (at least one European country).

• Each Portuguese institution must sign and stamp a Declaration of Commitment by the Portuguese Principal Investigator as well as by the Head of the Portuguese institution. A scanned copy of the “Declaration of Commitment”, in accordance with the template provided above, must be sent, by e-mail, to FCT’s contact person no later than 10 working days after the pre-proposal submission deadline. FCT may request the original document at a later date.
• The portuguese institutions must follow the Regulations governing access to funding for scientific research and technological development projects. The dedication (FTE) in transnational projects is not taken into account for the 100% (FTE) dedication to national projects.

The third M-ERA.NET CALL 2014 on Materials Science and Engineering including Nanotechnologies and Processes and Production Technologies was open on 6 June 2014.

The following thematic areas are supported:

• Integrated Computational Materials Engineering
• New surfaces and coatings
• Composite technology
• Materials for Sustainable and Affordable Low Carbon Energy Technologies
• Materials for Health
• Functional Materials Focusing on Sensors

• Deadline for the electronic submission of pre-proposals: 16 September 2014 (12.00 Brussels time).
• Deadline for the electronic submission of full proposals: 18 February 2015 (12.00 Brussels time).
• 36 national/regional funding organizations participating in the call from 24 countries including Russia and Taiwan.
• Eligible transnational consortia will have to include at least three organisations from at least two countries participating in the call (at least one European country).

• Each Portuguese institution need to submit a Declaração de Compromisso, duly signed and stamped by the head of the Principal Contractor and by the Principal Investigator, to the contact person at FCT, by e-mail, until the submission deadline of pre-proposals.
