International Cooperation

SIINN - Safe Implementation of Innovative Nanoscience and Nanotechnology

SIINN was a network for cooperation and coordination of 20 national/regional research funding programmes of 14 countries aiming at optimal use of resources (human, financial and infrastructures), knowledge and data on the safety and impact of nanoparticles and manufactured nanomaterials on human health and on the environment. It took place between 2011 and 2015 under the European Union Seventh Framework Programme. The SIINN ERA-NET main objectives were to:

  • Develop a transnational programme of joint R&D in nanosciences and nanotechnology, in particular on the industrial applications of nanoparticles and manufactured nanomaterials by promoting the study on the safety and impact of manufactured nanomaterials towards human health and to the environment;
  • Promote the information exchange between ministries, funding agencies, academic and industrial institutions, including international organisations;
  • Support joint, transnational calls to fill knowledge gaps in the area.

The projects funded within the three Joint Transnational Calls (JTC2012, JTC2013 and JTC2014) are presented here.
