Call for proposals for Scientific Research and Technological Development Projects

Under the Protocol of Collaboration between the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) and the Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR) – 2013

1. Objectives and Priorities

The present call for proposals aims to fund scientific research and technological development projects of scientific collaboration between Portuguese and French research teams under the Protocol of Collaboration established between the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) and the Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR).

Applications falling within the scope of the following areas will be accepted:

Life Sciences;
Social Sciences and Humanities.

2. Recipient Entities

Research teams from the following entities, either individually or jointly, may apply:

Institutions of higher education, their Institutes and R&D Centers;
Associate Laboratories;
State Laboratories;
Private, not-for-profit organizations whose principal object is science and technology activities;
Companies as long as they are integrated in projects led by public or private not-for-profit R&D organizations;
Other public and private not-for-profit organizations which carry out or participate in scientific research activities.

3. Application Submission

Joint proposals must be submitted in the appropriate electronic web application of ANR available at http://www.agence-nationale-recherche.fr/programmes-de-recherche/appel-detail/programme-blanc-2013/.

Applications must be submitted before 1pm (Paris time) on 17 January 2013.

The ANR will assume, for this call, the role of leading Agency, ensuring the process of submission, evaluation and selection of proposals. The results of this process will be submitted to FCT for consideration and decision in what concerns the Portuguese Institutions.

4. Funding and Budgetary Allocation

4.1. Funding:

FCT will fund the Portuguese scientists involved in mixed teams with national funds through the Ministry of Education and Science, and the same applies to ANR, which assumes the funding of French investigators.

The maximum duration of projects is three years and the funding per project cannot exceed € 200.000.

For Portuguese Institutions National regulations apply, including the Regulations Governing Access to Funding for Scientific Research and Technological Development Projects.

National candidates approved for funding will be formally invited to submit the respective project and budget on the FCT website.
