Joint R&D Project Grants with National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) - 2016-2018

To the I call for proposals between Portugal and China were submitted 29 applications, which resulted in 3 projects funded.

OVERVIEW

In the framework of the work plan for the promotion of scientific and technological cooperation, between the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and the FCT, signed on July 2015, both institutions hereby launch a call for proposals for joint research projects in the field of Marine Sciences.

FUNDING

FCT will provide the overall amount of €300,000 for Portuguese teams. Three proposals are expected to be funded. The maximum budget for each project will be €100,000, for a maximum of three years.
NSFC will provide matching funding for co-funding of up to three projects, each of up to three years.

ELIGIBILITY

Through FCT the following research teams may apply, individually or in association: Institutions of higher education, their institutes and R&D centres; Associated Laboratories; State Laboratories; Private non-profit institutions whose main activities are science and technology; companies that are part of projects led by R&D institutions (public or private non-profit); other public and private non-profit institutions, which carry out or participate in scientific research activities.

Chinese applicants will follow NSFC regulations for eligibility, available at NSFC regulations for eligibility.

SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS

Applicants should submit the Application Form, in English, in pdf format. Portuguese applicants should submit the form to FCT, and Chinese applicants should apply via the NSFC online submission system.

Applications should include a Declaration of Commitment duly completed and signed by the Principal Investigator and by the Portuguese institutions.

Applications which are not submitted to both FCT and NSFC shall not be considered.

DEADLINE:

Applications should be submitted by 29 February 2016, 16:00 (Lisbon time).

EVALUATION

Proposals will be evaluated through international peer review according to the scientific merit and relevance of the proposal, by FCT and NSFC independently.
After the evaluation, a Joint Committee Meeting between FCT and NSFC will make the final decision on which proposals will be funded.
