ProSafe – Promoting the Implementation of Safe-by-Design

ProSafe was a Coordination and Support Action on “Promoting the Implementation of Safe-by-Design” (2015-2017), comprising 12 institutions from 10 European countries. The main objective of this project was to coordinate and support the aims of EU Member and Associated states in their EU and international efforts for promoting nanosafety, in particular through the risk assessment, collection and management on regulatory orientated toxicology testing of nanomaterials, exposure monitoring, life cycle assessment (LCA), and disposal and treatment of waste nanomaterials, as well as regulatory policy developments.

This project also supported the R&D of nanomaterials and nano-inspired products by addressing the uncertainties and safety aspects from the beginning of the R&D or innovation process to the end of its life along the entire value chain, in order to have only safe nano materials and nano products entering the market.
