International Cooperation

Trans-Atlantic Platform for the Social Sciences and Humanities (T-AP)

The Trans-Atlantic Platform for the Social Sciences and Humanities (T-AP) is project funded by the 7th FP (2013-2016). T-AP is a partnership of 14 research councils, from European Member states, Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Canada, coordinated by the Nederlandse Organisatie Voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek (NWO), from the Netherlands.

Major research funders in Europe and the Americas have decided to join forces to build a Trans-Atlantic Platform (T-AP) in order to create and establish effective and structured multi-lateral engagement between research funding agencies in Europe and the Americas. T-AP represents a collaborative effort of key funders on Social Sciences and Humanities on a scale not previously entertained. This Platform will break down the barriers to foster cooperation between funders and also lead to heightening understanding of the contribution of Social Sciences and Humanities disciplines in a global context. The overall aim of T-AP is to develop the conditions for enhanced collaboration at both research funders and researchers level between Europe and Americas in the Social Sciences and Humanities.

The key objectives of the Trans-Atlantic Social Sciences and Humanities Platform are: to step-up the international cooperation between the T-AP partners through closer coordination of activities; to learn and enhance the networking of and expand existing networks; to identify opportunities for future research collaboration; to construct and support the Trans-Atlantic Platform.
