FCT is a partner of the ERA-NET Cofund Aquatic Pollutants, a project with the goal of strengthening the European Research Area (ERA) within the domain of aquatic ecosystems, and in the promotion of transnational cooperation between the areas of water, oceans and health. The ERA-NET Cofund Aquatic Pollutants comprises 32 entities from 26 countries, including Ministries and Funding Agencies. . This ERA-NET Cofund is a collaborative effort between the Joint Programming Initiatives (JPI) Water JPI, JPI Oceans, and JPI AMR (Antimicrobial Resistance). Its international dimension will be directly translated into close collaboration with other relevant European and international initiatives.

The Call addresses "Risks posed to human health and the environment by
pollutants and pathogens present in water resources", and encloses
the following topics:
Theme 1 – Measuring - Environmental behaviour of contaminants of
emerging concern (CECs), pathogens and antimicrobial resistant bacteria in
aquatic ecosystems;
Theme 2 – Evaluating - Risk Assessment and Management of contaminants
of emerging concern (CECs), pathogens and antimicrobial resistant bacteria
from aquatic ecosystems (inland, coastal and marine) to human health and
environment;
Theme 3 – Taking Actions - Strategies to reduce contaminants of
emerging concern (CECs), pathogens and antimicrobial resistant bacteria in
aquatic ecosystems (inland, coastal and marine).
Belgium, Brazil, Cyprus, Czech Rep., Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Israel, Moldova (Rep.), Latvia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Scotland, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, Tunisia, and Turkey.
Applicants from countries not participating in the call can be part of a consortium, as long as they are able to secure their own funding (It will be required to document the availability of their funds).
1- Please consult the Call Documents and Submission Platform in the box on the right.
2- Consult the National Documents available in the box on the right. Also read the specific National funding regulations of all the participating countries involved in your consortium (including your own), available in the Call Announcement. Non-eligible partners may lead to the rejection of the whole consortium.
3- Access the online submission platform , and proceed according to your role.
4- Each Portuguese partner (or coordinator) has to send via email to the Joint Call National Contact Point a Statement of Commitment duly signed, dated and stamped by the Head of the Portuguese applicant organization and by the Principal Investigator, until 10 days after the submission deadline. Applicants need to keep the original documents, as it may be later required for legal purposes.
National funding commitment for the call: 300.000 €
Maximum requested funding for a consortium coordinated by Portugal or with Portuguese participation: 100.000 €
Note: if more than one Portuguese institution participates in a given consortium, the budget has to be shared. Consult the links provided in this webpage related to the national documentation.
