FCT and the Department of Science and Technology of India (DST) hereby launch a call for joint project proposals from Portuguese and Indian research teams, for the 2017-2019 period. This call falls within the framework of the Indo-Portuguese Agreement for Cooperation in Science and Technology (established in 1999).
The Indo-Portuguese Programme of Cooperation in Science and Technology facilitates bilateral cooperation between researchers of the two countries by way of exploratory visits, joint R&D projects, and seminars/workshops. The Department of Science and Technology (Ministry of Science & Technology of India) and FCT (Ministry of Science & Technology and Higher Education of Portugal), are the agencies that implement the programme, in India and in Portugal, respectively.
The programme is open to scientists, engineers, and institutions involved in advanced research in the areas specified in each call, in India and Portugal. Proposals are selected by both parties. Funding is awarded for three years.

The Principal Investigator (PI) and other researchers in India and in Portugal should be scientists/faculty members working in a regular capacity in Government-acknowledged universities, academic institutes and national research & development laboratories/institutes. The Indian PI should not be retiring during the proposed duration of the project.
The inclusion of young researchers in the teams is mandatory. Non-compliance leads to exclusion of the application. Priority is given to new projects and/or new teams.
Joint project proposals must be submitted simultaneously by the Portuguese partners to FCT and by the Indian researchers to DST in the set format. Unilaterally submitted projects shall not be considered. The project proposal must include a Principal Investigator (PI) and a Co-PI, each in a different country.
The completed project proposals must reach both the sides by 24 March
