Call for Junior Research and Career Development Awards

Purpose and Overview

The present call for proposals aims to fund scientific research and technological development projects in the field of Clinical and Translational Research. The Clinical and Translational Collaborative Research Grants are designed to enhance and enlarge the clinical and translational research infrastructure in Portugal. The proposals will involve a collaborative effort between Portuguese research teams and Harvard Medical School teams.

What's included

Each approved proposal shall receive funding up to 100 000 €

Eligibility

The Junior Research and Career Development Awards will provide MDs in Portuguese residency training in clinical research.

The following organizations may apply: higher education institutions and associated research centers; Associated Laboratories; State Laboratories; private non-profit institutions (dedicated to R&D), and other public or private, non-profit organizations that carry out scientific research.

How and when to apply

Applications should be submitted online between 17th July and 5pm (Lisbon time), 25th September 2013.

Applicants are advised to read the latest Application Guide, Terms of Reference for the Call of 2013, Application Guidelines: Junior Research and Career Development Awards, the Guide for Peer Reviewers, and the Regulations, before submitting an application.

Evaluation

Proposals shall be evaluated by an international review panel, on merit across four evaluation criteria:

  1. International scientific merit and innovativeness;
  2. Scientific excellence of the research team;
  3. Feasibility of the research project and realistic budget allocation;
  4. Contribution of the research to the advancement of knowledge and of capacity of the S&T system in Portugal.
