Evaluation of the R&D Units 2022-2023
FCT has initiated the preparation of the periodic evaluation process of the
R&D Units 2022-2023, which includes the evaluation of activities for
the period 2018-2022 and the planning for 2024-2027.
The draft regulations for the evaluation and multi-annual funding of
R&D units was available for public
consultation until 4 March, 2022 and the planned schedule for the call
is as follows:
- Publication of the Regulations in Diário da República: April 2022.
- Publication of the opening notice: end of the 2nd quarter 2022
- Opening of registration and submission of applications: 4th quarter
2022
- Visits to R&D Units: 2nd and 3rd quarters of 2023
- Publication of results: 4th quarter 2023
- Funding term for R&D Units as a result of the evaluation: 2024-2027
FCT regularly organises evaluation exercises of national R&D institutions.
The evaluation system is based on periodic assessments carried out every 4-5 years by panels of international experts. The evaluation is based on the analysis of the report of activities carried out in previous years and on the plan to be developed for the following period, complemented with direct contacts with the researchers and the units within the scope of visits that take place to the units.
As a result of this evaluation process, a quality score is awarded, which determines the amount of multi-annual funding to be granted until a new evaluation is carried out
